Restoration
Plaster, decorative paint and gilding, matched to what is already there.
Matching, not making.
The difficulty in restoration is never the new material. It is the old one. A surface that has aged unevenly for eighty years has to be matched closely enough that the repair stops being visible, which means matching the damage as much as the finish.

How it’s Made.
First, we look. Matching is done by eye, against the surviving surface, in the light it actually lives in. Sometimes a finish can be matched and the repair disappears. Sometimes the honest answer is that the surface has moved too far and it needs to be redone. We say which before anyone commits.
The Work
-
Lime plaster repair and cement finishes on older houses, matched to what survives.
-
Murals, glazing and painted ornament that has been damaged, overpainted or lost.
-
Knocked moldings, worn leaf, frames.
-
The marks that appear at the end of a job when every other trade moves through a finished room.
